Nipple correction

Usually we associate breasts surgery with breast lifts, reductions and enlargements. However, for some women (and men), their concerns are focused on the nipples. Whether they are inverted or protrude, these patients are always very happy to hear how simple it is to correct just the nipple. It is a relatively straightforward procedure that is done under local anaesthesia

The surgery

Inverted or enlarged nipples can be congenital or a result of breastfeeding. A nipple correction can reduce the size of the nipples. That is why this procedure is often called a nipple reduction.

Inverted nipple repair is performed on nipples that have been inverted since birth or have become inverted due to breast feeding or trauma. They can easily be surgically corrected.

This nipple correction takes place under local anaesthesia and the surgery leaves no visible scars. Sometimes a part of the milk ducts can be lost though. So if you wish to breastfeed after a nipple correction, you should inform your doctor of this. You then have the possibility to choose for a less radical nipple correction that preserves the milk ducts.
