Facelift

Gravity, the sun, nicotine, stress and other such factors can make our faces lose their youthful glow. The skin slackens, the jaw line fails to maintain its original contour and the nasal lip wrinkle deepens. An s-lift or a smas facelift cannot stop the aging process but can set the clock back a little.

During the first consultation feel free to discuss other possible liftings (the minilift or macs-facelift and the aptos lift) with your plastic surgeon.

The surgery

The classic facelift incision in front of the ear goes up vertically into the temporal scalp hair. The skin is tightened, the hypodermic tissue (muscles and fat) is corrected and the excess skin removed.

An s-lift takes approximately three hours and is performed under local anaesthetic. You may return home the day of the procedure.

Post operative care

After the smas facelift or the s-lift a bandage and two small drains are immediately attached to contain the swelling and the bleeding. The bandage and the drains may be removed after 24 hours.

The face will remain swollen for a few weeks. The swelling will be followed by a tingling sensation, but these are just temporary side effects of the treatment. Lymphatic drainage can help draw away fluid waste.

The primary goal of the s-lift is to obtain a natural result that reflects your radiant personality. It takes about two to three months to see the effect of an s-lift. The results of a s-lift are for life.

It is important to know that an s-lift does not prevent the skin from aging. But it will help retain a younger appearance for years to come.
